OverviewThe Days Inn Downtown Edmonton is located on the east side of 106st and south of Jasper Avenue in Edmonton, Alberta.
Facilities at the 100% non-smoking hotel include free parking, a business centre, a fitness centre, a restaurant, meeting rooms, and an elevator accessing all four floors at the property.
There are 76 guest rooms at the non-pet friendly hotel and they typically have either one queen bed or two queens. After speaking with a Front Desk Agent at the hotel we learned that there are a few rooms at the property that offer king beds.
Room amenities include free wireless Internet, free local calls, coffee makers, hair dryers, irons, and air conditioning. Some rooms also have desks, refrigerators, and microwaves.
The Grant MacEwan City Centre campus is about 1.1km from the hotel, the Central Station subway station (LRT) is about 1.0km away, and City Centre mall is about 1.1km away (walking distances - Google Maps).
Check in time at this hotel is at 1pm while check out time is at 11am.
Verified with a Front Desk Agent: there are no smoking rooms at the hotel, only “a few” rooms at the property have king beds.
The GoodGuests who stayed at the Days Inn Downtown Edmonton wrote mixed reviews of the property. The guests who enjoyed their stay often liked the price of their room rates, the location of the property, and the staff at the hotel.
Numerous guests indicated that they felt as though they received a competitive rate from the Days Inn Downtown Edmonton. Guests frequently said that their rates were “decent” or “reasonable” and relatively few guests felt that the hotel was overpriced. Many guests also mentioned that parking was free at the hotel and that added some value to the prices that were paid.
The location of the hotel was well-liked for a few different reasons. Several guests mentioned that it was downtown and other guests indicated that they liked the hotel’s close proximity to shopping. Some guests mentioned that public transit was easy to find near the property and many guests had no troubles finding restaurants nearby.
The staff at the hotel received occasional complaints, however overall they were well reviewed. Guests often said that they were "friendly" and/or "helpful" and many guests were emphatic when they communicated that they had received solid service.

The Bad
Guests that were not entirely happy with their stay were fairly common and their concerns covered a broad spectrum of issues.
Some guests complained about their rooms and mentioned that they did not have fridges or microwaves. Occasionally guests mentioned that they had trouble with the heat in their rooms and one guest, for example, said his room was “too hot” because he “could not regulate the temperature.”
Additionally many guests said that they had trouble with the temperature of the shower water. It “kept switching from hot to cold” and one guest said that showering was “a nightmare.” Multiple guests described a repeating cycle where they had cold water for a short time, then hot water, and then normal water. One guest said that the intervals were about fifteen seconds to one minute.
Many guests also felt that the property was old or in need of upgrades. The hotel was called “run-down” or “really outdated” and some patrons recommended renovations.
Occasionally a guest complained about the Internet and it was called “spotty.”
Expedia.ca guest ratings averaged to 3.8 points out of 5 and the site had 127 reviews. Booking.com guest ratings averaged to 7.5 points out of 10 and the site had 123 reviews. Hotels.com guest ratings averaged to 3.6 points out of 5 and the site had 142 reviews.
Front Desk Agent: no smoking rooms at the hotel and only “a few” rooms at the property have king beds.

"The service was excellent the house cleaning was very good.
The restaurant was excellent but could keep a little better hours only open 7 to 3.
The bed was very good because I have a back problem and didn't have any problems with this hotel, and the room has lots of room which is nice to see."

"Bare Bones Amenities"
"Room was unbearably hot (80 degrees) the first night and no way to control it. Complained and they tried to fix - somewhat better second night. Had to pay $10 extra for frig and no pay per view movies. Also, when checking in, they informed me that they would be pre-authorizing an extra $100 and it would be credited when we checked out. Never encountered that before - outrageous! Beds were comfortable, good location and nice little gym."

"We thought it was clean and safe. I thought it would have been nice if the coffee pot was the regular kind instead of the single cup type, but a minor point. And my wife thought the bathtub stopper didn't work well enough to keep the water in the tub. Lots of hot water and a nice bed."

"The city of Edmonton started cleaning the streets in front of the Hotel @ 12:30am. This continued until 2:00am and was very non-condusive to sleep.
The hotel interior is quite dated."

"There are quite few basic issues to be addressed such as:
- Extremely old telephpne system (if you do not have a calling card you have to dial collect which is very unfortunate),
- hotel can not issue the receipt whic is something very unusual (submitting the expenses)
- in the room there is not even simplest paper tissue, paper towel etc.
- not enough suger bags to make a coffe or tea
I general,
- walls, certain things dirty, deteriorated, broken (door lock for example)
I wolud never stay in this hotel again."

"I would recommend it, if someone needed a place downtown that accepted pets. It needs updating ie. the bathrooms and beds. The hotel it self was kept clean...just out dated."

"When a person is relying on the internet to book a hotel, at least the pictures could be accurate! The site for this hotel showed a beautiful swimming pool and area. I booked it for that reason. Also, this is a very old hotel and has not been maintained well. The bathrooms have not been updated since the 1970's. However, the web pictures were obviously of a new Days Inn and not the Days Inn we stayed at.
This hotel was a complete rip-off. $90 US a night!! Disgusting."

"This hotel had a great location for down town and all amenities. However, there was signage everywhere stating "you are being monitored" this was a little uncomfortable."

"The room was fine, big king-sized bed, good local TV.
The heat worked.
Free local calls.
Covered parking.
My only complaint would be that the plumbing was older style 2-tap to which we have become unaccustomed and the sink taps turned the same direction which was decidedly odd.
We asked for a quiet room and we got one.
The people at the desk were very friendly.
I would use this hotel again.
