Overview
This 297 room hotel is located in the heart of downtown Edmonton’s business area, and is approximately a 38 minute drive or 30.3km from the Edmonton International Airport in Leduc County (Google Maps). Several shops, cafes and restaurants are within walking distance and the hotel also provides a shuttle bus service within a 5km radius downtown, based on availability.
Hotel facilities include an indoor swimming pool and fitness centre, as well as an on-site restaurant and convenience store. The Coast Edmonton House is a pet friendly hotel that charges $10/pet/per day. Parking is an additional charge of $15 per night.
The rooms are similar to apartments in design and all suites feature a private balcony, a pull-out sofa bed, a full kitchen or kitchenette, a hair dryer, an iron and ironing board, an in-room safe, and two 32 inch flat screen televisions. The room rate includes complimentary coffee and tea, free local calls and free Wifi.
Suite types are the Comfort and the Superior Suites with three room type options: 1 queen bed, 1 king bed, or 2 double beds. The Premium Suite: 1 king bed in a private bedroom. The Premium Executive Suite: 1 king bed in a private bedroom and a large work desk, and the Premium two Bedroom Suite with two room options: 1 king bed in Master bedroom and 1 king bed in second bedroom or 1 king bed in Master bedroom and 2 twin beds in second bedroom. The Premium two Bedroom Suite also includes three 32 inch flat screen televisions, two full bathrooms and two private balconies.
The on-site Rutherford’s Restaurant and Lounge serves breakfast, lunch and dinner.
Hours of operation are Sunday-Tuesday 6:30am-10:00pm, Wednesday-Saturday 6:30am-11:00pm. Breakfast is served until 11:00am daily.
Room Service: 6:30am-10:00pm daily.
Check in is at 3:00pm while check out is at 12:00pm.
The GoodGuests that gave this Edmonton hotel positive reviews typically focused on value, location and suite size. Many guests described this hotel as “very reasonably priced” because of its downtown location.
Several guests remarked that there was “lots of space” in their suites, and those that were traveling in groups felt that the suites were large enough to accommodate them. The kitchenettes were considered convenient by guests who wished to cook their own meals.
A number of guests enjoyed having a private balcony and those that stayed on the upper level floors said the city views were “beautiful” and “awesome”.
In most reviews guests praised the hotel staff describing them as “friendly” and “helpful”, and the majority of reviewers that stayed at the Coast Edmonton House stated that they would return to this hotel as well as recommend it to others.
The Bad
Guest complaints typically focused on dated and worn interiors, maintenance issues and parking fees.
While most guests mentioned the good value of this hotel several also said that it was in need of renovations. Some guests complained that the furnishings were badly worn and the carpets stained.
A few guests found that the electrical outlets in their rooms did not work properly. Others mentioned that they received a poor reception on their television sets.
In several reviews guests complained that the $15.00 per night parking fee was too high.
Peripheral complaints regarding this hotel mentioned that the parking lot was too narrow and difficult to navigate, as well as noisy elevators which some guests said affected the quality of their sleep.
