Overview
Located about a 5-minute walk from Canmore's city centre and a 1-minute drive from the nearest Trans-Canada Highway on-ramp, Hostel Bear is geared towards travellers who prefer a centrally located hostel with free Wi-Fi and easy highway access.

This smoke-free hostel offers both dorm-style and private rooms. Dorm rooms come equipped with free Wi-Fi, a shared bathroom, privacy curtains, storage lockers and individual night lights. Private rooms also offer an en suite bathroom. The hostel is not wheelchair accessible. Pets are not permitted at Hostel Bear.

Hostel amenities include a common kitchen and dining room, a lobby with a library and TV, a computer kiosk, a games room, guest laundry, free parking and free toaster waffles and toast. 

Please note that the hostel's on-site bar is currently shut down (as of March 12, 2014), but the hostel plans to re-open it at a later date (please contact the hostel for information).

Canmore Nordic Centre Provincial Park is about a 10-minute drive away, while Canmore Golf and Curling Club can be found 3 minutes away by car. The hostel's location was praised by numerous reviewers. They described it as safe and central, as well as close to highway access, downtown Canmore, golfing, grocery stores and Canmore General Hospital.

Many guests were pleased with the level of customer service they received during their stay. They characterized the staff as friendly, helpful and professional. 

The hostel's rates were enjoyed by several travellers. They described them as great, affordable and reasonable.

Several lodgers were satisfied with their accommodations at the hostel. They found their rooms to be clean and spacious, with fast Wi-Fi and comfortable beds. A few patrons had complaints about their lodgings, however (see below).
