Overview
The Falcon Crest Lodge is on a side street off one of Canmore's main streets, Bow Valley Trail. Its apartment-style suites and deluxe rooms cater to longer-term stays and guests looking to cook for themselves. Heated underground parking and secure storage for skis, snowboards and bikes, are aimed at an outdoorsy clientele.

The hotel's four floors feature 108 rooms and suites. Deluxe rooms, the most basic option available, come with two double beds, a kitchenette as well as a balcony or patio with a BBQ. Suites range from studios to two-bedroom condos, and include king and/or queen beds and a sofabed.

Each suite also has a full kitchen (including dishwasher), a washer and dryer, a full bathroom (two-bedroom suites have two full bathrooms) with a soaker tub and shower as well as a balcony or patio with BBQ. Mountain view room upgrades are available on deluxe rooms and one- and two-bedroom suites. Adjoining rooms and suites are available.

The entire property is smoke-free and pet-free. Free Wi-Fi is available throughout the hotel. Two outdoor hot tubs are available to all guests, along with a fitness room. An on-site restaurant, Indochine, serves Vietnamese food for lunch and dinner, every day except Tuesday.

The underground parking is free and heated and a sprayer is available for self-serve car washing. Ski, snowboard and bike storage is located here, and an elevator accesses guest floors from the parkade.

The hotel is about 10 minutes from Banff National Park (25 minutes from the town of Banff). The main street of Canmore is about a 20-minute walk or 5-minute drive from the hotel. Skiing and snowboarding is as close as Mount Norquay and Sunshine Village resorts (both approximately a 30-minute drive) and Lake Louise Ski Resort (about an hour). Banff Upper Hot Springs are about a half-hour drive from the hotel.

The Good
The Falcon Crest Lodge is generally very well-reviewed by guests. Reviews consulted for this analysis typically spoke well of the spacious suites and large kitchens, making their accommodation feel like "home away from home," according to one guest. Many guests appreciated the BBQs on the balconies and patios, while others liked the inclusion of a washer and dryer in their suite (not available in deluxe rooms).

The hotel's staff was another high point of guest reviews, one reviewer saying, "you can tell the staff take pride of ownership." Front desk and maintenance staff were often reported to have gone above and beyond to ensure guest satisfaction.

The mountainview upgrade was often considered worth the additional cost. The location, a short drive from Banff National Park and the town of Banff, was a selling feature for many reviewers, and the heated, underground parking was much appreciated, especially by those visiting during the winter.
