Located a 15 minute drive from Calgary International Airport (YYC), and approximately a 12 minute walk to Sunridge Mall, this hotel is popular with guests seeking economical accommodation, or who want easy access to the airport. On-site amenities include an indoor pool and a gym.

There are both smoking and non-smoking rooms available at this hotel. Guests have their choice of rooms with various configurations and bed types. All rooms have Wi-Fi, a 32 inch flat screen TV, a coffeemaker, a hair dryer and an iron and an ironing board. There is free parking available on site, and pets are permitted for a cost of $10/day. Guests travelling by air can also take the free airport shuttle that runs on the hour, 24 hours a day.

Although this hotel is located nearby a number of restaurants, guests do have the choice to dine on site at Ryleys Restaurant, serving breakfast daily from 6:30am-10:00am and dinner from 5:00pm-9:00pm.

While this hotel is within walking distance to a major mall, guests will need access to a vehicle (or public transport) to access a number of other Calgary attractions, including the Calgary Zoo (a 13 minute drive) and the downtown area (just under a 20 minute drive), which is where the business district, Stampede Corral, the Calgary Tower and the Glenbow Museum are located (distances and driving time estimates: Google Maps).

Check-in is at 3:00pm, while check-out is at 11:00am.

Confirmed with a front desk agent: Wi-Fi, parking, shuttle, pet policy (call date: July 11, 2012).
The Good
There were a number of things that were responsible for enhancing the stay of guests at this hotel, namely good service from staff and convenient location.

The location was a positive feature for many guests. Some liked the proximity to the airport. A few others mentioned that it was conveniently located to a number of shops and restaurants. Another guest said that the hotel was well located to public transit to go to downtown Calgary.

Staff received top marks from guests at this hotel, who used words like "friendly" and "helpful" to describe them. Front desk staff, shuttle bus drivers and housekeeping were mentioned specifically. Staff went "above and beyond" for a few guests.

Price point was a favourable factor for many guests too, who used words like "economical" and "cheap", and felt that they got good value for the price paid.

There were a few additional comments on things like comfortable beds and pillows.
The Bad
While there were a number of positive reviews, of those used for this analysis, there were some common threads among guest complaints, including a lack of attention to cleaning, and tired decor.

Some guests felt that there was a lack of detailed cleaning in the rooms and in the common areas. One guest suggested that greater care needed to be given to carpets and to vacuuming, and another felt that it was dusty. Other guests mentioned unclean hallways, and that the whole hotel felt "dirty".

One guest said that decor was "dated and worn" and another said that it was "tired".  There was specific mention of patched walls and old bedding.

A few guests had issues within the rooms themselves, including clogged sinks and unpleasant mildew odours

There were a few peripheral complaints, mostly centring on the hours and selection of food at the on-site restaurant and slow elevator service.

"It's a shocker!"

"Made the reservation online because they offered free airport shuttle and we were only staying one night. Nothing would have induced me to spend a minute more in that hotel. It was dirty, old and well past it's best. The car park was full of large trucks and that just about sums up the hotel - suitable for a cheap overnight stay with no comforts - the truckies obviously love it. We did however get our taxi to the airport paid for by the hotel management - I guess it saved them getting up early to take us to the airport - the only saving grace."

"older hotel rooms need facelift"

"pool good, no hot tub, no continental breakfast, drab decor, very basic"

"This was the smallest room ever! There was no place to move in the room, no place to open your suitcase. Room was claustrophobic at best. Not worth the cost of the room for sure. I will not stay or recommend this hotel to anyone in future."

"Hotel was good but could be a bit more cleaner: The carpet looked worn out and bed cover could be changed too."

"Worst hotel ever!!!"

"I have stated at many hotels in my travels and this had to be one of the worst I have ever stayed at. The noise levels were incredible, from dogs barking during the night to the people upstairs screwing around all night long. The linens were not changed for three days, kids screaming up and down the hallways. I can see why people were checking out in the middle of the night to go to a hotel down the street. I would not recommend this hotel to anyone."

"We recommend this hotel."

"Darci was an excellent hostess, friendly, helpful, considerate and very pleasant. The only negative aspect of our stay was the free breakfast in the dining room which appeared to have been re-heated in the microwave making the sausage and bacon "rubbery". Other than that, everything was very good."

"Bad beds. bad smell and too expensive"

"We asked for a non-smoking room and got a smoking one. The beds were completely shot. Caving in to the middle. The smell in the room was so bad that my sister in law almost threw up when she got in. For 170$ a night, this is really unacceptable."

"I hotel itself wasn't bad, could have bee cheaper. i stayed in a 5 star hotel in Dubai for much less. Staffs were curteous but the restaurant was abysmal. very poor service and food that makes McDonald looks like fine cuisine. Waitress very sloppy and inexperience, considering there was only 3 busy tables. I would like to point out that garlic bread is not 2 pieces of toast that actually arrived when my meal was completed and I was paying my bill. I have been wondering if Calgarians really know about food or do they think travellers are stuck between rock and stone? Shuttle service was good!"

"Don't stay here...... Sleep in you car...."

"The room I had has never been updated, I was back in the 70's. The shower and tub were light brown, the sink with and the toilet set and lid white. There were cigarette burn marks on the carpet, the tub and sink. The most updating this room had may have been some paint. The elevator was noisy, my room was about 30 feet from it, but the motor for it was on the roof and I was on the top floor, you could hear the sides of the elevator scrape the sides of the elevator shaft. I saw no inspection stickers on the elevator, and the interior was worse. At $199.00 a night it was way overpriced. If I had to pay for this stay I would be demanding 50% of my money back! THE ENTIRE HOTEL NEEDS TO BE REDONE...."

"The Restaurant serving the hotel was really terrible in customer service. We sat there for almost an eternity before a waitress attended to us. To make matters worse there were only two or three other people there. And they had either been served or on their way out. It almost seemed racist to non-whites. It was a horrible experience. Needless to add, I would never enter nor recommend the restaurant. It anything the hotel should re-examine its relationship with the owners."

"This Hotel desperately needs upgrading. The rooms had a bad odour and were dingy. Did not have an enjoyable stay."

"Altho the hotel was very neat & clean, it was 'aged' showing wear & tear, somewhat 'out dated'. The pool area was off the loby & altho near elevator & first floor door, it still was too open to feel comfortable with pepole at the nearby check in desk. The pool & exercise rooms could have used something, anything, to apporve their apearance. Ice machines were on only two of four floors, at the far end of the hall, which ment a long 'hike'& very inconvenet. Otherwise,it was OK & the staff were very pleasent & helpful."

"We booked a non-smoking room and it STANK of cigarette smoke. There was no other room available for us so we were not very satisfied. although attempts were made to cover the smell they were totally unsatisfactory. Chris"

"We were disappointed about the breakfast buffet - we were the first ones there at 7 a.m. and the food on the buffet was luke warm or cold - not acceptable."

"Although the hotel was very well looked after and the bedrooms were very clean, facilities were also very good, I'm afraid that some of the staff needed teaching about customer relations. That was the only complaint I have about the hotel, but it could put off another visit. A smile and a polite hello would have been nice."
