All rooms have a balcony, premium bedding, a mini-fridge, a hair dryer, a coffemaker, a kettle and an iron and an ironing board. The GoodLocation, spacious rooms and keen, helpful staff were behind the enjoyable stay for a number of guests.
Several guests were pleasantly surprised by the size of the rooms, and used words like "ample space". They said that rooms were very clean and comfortable as well. One guest said that their room was "ultra-clean". Guests found staff particularly helpful at this hotel, and wrote in detail about staff who went the extra mile to offer suggestions and advice on the area and on shops, restaurants and attractions.
The location was convenient, according to a number of guests. One guest said that they "walked everywhere", while another guest said of the hotel, "in the downtown core, close to must-see sights".
The price point was reasonable for many guests, who indicated that they felt that they had received good value for the money they paid.
There were some additional comments on things like views from rooms and on comfy beds.
The Bad
Many of the reviews used for this analysis were positive, but guests who had complaints had a few items in common, including the both the size of the bathrooms, and problems with the plumbing in the bathrooms.
While a number of guests commented on the generous size of the rooms, a few guests felt that the bathrooms were disproportionately small. One guest said, " the bathrooms are strangely small with fixtures and finishes that are clearly getting very worn out."
A number of guests had problems with the plumbing in the bathroom, specifically with hot water in the shower, sinks and toilets that were both leaking and overflowing.
There were some peripheral complaints, mostly centring on things like slow and noisy elevators.
Confirmed with a front desk agent: Wi-Fi and parking (call date: July 13, 2012).

"I have frequented this hotel since 1988. The rooms have been updated, and the security has been upgraded. Previously, the parkade security was lacking, however, that appears to have been remedied.
All the rooms are suites, thus one does not feel like living in a 'box'. The amenities (pool, workout area, showers, etc.) are very good. Location is excellent, as one is in the heart of downtown, and close to Chinatown that has some fabulous eating places.
If the hotel is filled to capacity, sometimes the elevators can be a bit slow, however, to me that is a minor inconvenience."

"My accommodations were better than expected as I was in a small suite rather than just a one room hotel room. The only drawback was that I forgot to request a non-smoking room when I booked. But the bedroom window opened and the balcony doors opened to bring in fresh air. Make sure you drive to the front of the hotel and take out your bags before you park your car in the garage as their are stairs from the garage to the hotel lobby. Staff were very friendly. Enjoyed the stay. Booking online saved me money and was even better rate than the conference rate."

"Where to begin....
My family (2 adults, 3 kids) expected 2 double beds and a queen pull out bed. After questioning the front desk staff that the beds were not what I booked I was told at the front desk that they were in fact "3/4" beds (something in between a twin and a double); the pull out was about the size of a standard double. There were no rooms available with larger sized beds for our family to switch. We were going to stay 6 nights and all your staff could do was provide me with an extra cot. These beds are too small to accommodate 2 adults so I will NOT recommend your hotel as a place to stay in Calgary. I was extra billed parking for two days. When I checked out the room rate was set at $179 even though it was confirmed over the phone and email at $154. How can this be? The pool was closed for maintenance during the week; I have 3 kids and the pool was an important attraction for them. It was also very noisy early in the morning as there was significant construction/renovation going on at the front entrance of the hotel. I was not informed of the renovation at the time of booking. Obviously I would not have considered your hotel if I had been informed of the construction up front by your registration staff. Also our room faced the street on the 7th floor so we took the brunt of the construction noise early in the morning. Unfortunately there were no other hotels downtown with available rooms or else I would have left after the first night. I originally planned to stay for 6 nights but I left after 5!!
A response to these many concerns would be appreciated."

"LOVED the suite concept for our 4 adult travelers! It kept our group in close touch, yet gave us some privacy, too. I wish the hotel had internet access, though. As US travelers, we were totally cut off from our cell phone signals. Without the phones and/or internet on site, we had a challenge doing our banking and checking our return flights. The International Hotel staff were all very helpful and friendly, though."

"The parking at this hotel is pricey, they should let you park for free but instead you get charged per night."

"I didn't feel that the front desk Staff went out of their way to accommodate us. Example, when asked if the individual at the front desk could tell us what was playing at the movies the response was, "No, you would have to give them a call." I think it would have been better had the employee said, "I don't know but let me give them a call and find out for you." Just a little effort of going "the extra mile" would have been nice on the Staff's part. Thank you for allowing me to share this comment."
