Located in the heart of downtown Calgary on 12th Avenue South West, this boutique hotel promotes itself as "focused on renewing both the business and recreational spirit." This hotel is very popular with guests who are in town for the Calgary Stampede, as it is about a 14 minute walk away from the Stampede Corral. On-site amenities include an outdoor heated pool, a fitness centre and a spa.

Guests have their choice of trendily decorated rooms, from standard studio rooms to more spacious suites. All rooms include premium bedding, a 42 inch plasma TV, a balcony with either city view or pool view, bathrobes and Aveda toiletries. Extra charges for amenities include $10.45/day for Wi-Fi, self parking for $22/day (includes tax), valet parking for $30/day (includes tax) and a $30 pet fee per stay.

Guests can easily walk to access a number of nearby attractions, including the Calgary Tower (a 7 minute walk), and the Glenbow Museum (a 9 minute walk). The Saddledome, for those looking to catch a hockey game or concert, is slightly farther, about a 14 minute walk away. Guests travelling by air should budget about 21 minutes to travel the 17.9km between the hotel and Calgary International Airport (YYC) (distances and driving time estimates: Google Maps).

The Good
For guests that had a positive experience at this hotel, much of it had to do with the convenient location and excellent service from staff.

Staff received top marks from guests who used words like "friendly", "responsive" and "helpful" frequently. Guests mentioned specific staff members by name, and said that staff went out of their way to accomodate requests, and were particularly attentive when it came to making suggestions about places to visit and the surrounding area.

Guests found the location of this hotel convenient and central, and said that they were able to walk to a number of attractions, shops and restaurants. For business travellers, one guest said that the hotel was "within a short walking distance from all the major companies".

Several guests enjoyed the contemporary decor. One guest described it as "modern and artsy". A number of guests said that the rooms were clean.

There were some additional comments on things like the pool area and on comfy beds.
The Bad
Although many of the reviews used for this analysis were positive, there were things in common between guest complaints, namely problems with the rooms and poor lighting quality.

While many guests liked the rooms, some found them awkwardly configured. One guest felt that the ceilings were low, and that some of the furniture was not well placed. Another guest had problems opening her balcony door.

A number of guests felt that the hotel was dimly lit, both in the hallways and in the rooms. One guest attributed the darkness in their room to a lack of lamps and to low wattage light bulbs.

Some guests complained of noisy, rattling A/C units that they found disruptive.

There were some peripheral comments, on things like lack of plugs in rooms and on poor quality room service.
