The GoodThe Hilton Garden Inn Calgary Airport was very popular with guests. Many patrons commended the property for its convenient location, its facilities/services, its staff, and/or its guest rooms.
Guests that liked the location of the property did so for one very common reason: close proximity to the Calgary International Airport. Time and time again guests indicated that they were airport travelers who were either heading out on a flight or just arriving from one.
Related to airport location, many guests also appreciated the fact that the hotel had a free shuttle service. Typically guests described that service as quick and easy. Another facility/service at the hotel that received some praise was the pool. Multiple guests indicated that they were happy that the hotel had a pool including one woman who was traveling with children.
The staff at this hotel did not receive very many complaints. They were commonly described as "friendly" and/or "helpful" and the general impression was that they were very professional.
Guest rooms were often described as clean as was the hotel on the whole. Many guests also thought that their rooms were spacious.
The Bad
This hotel was among the top hotels for the city of Calgary and as such it did not receive that many complaints.
Every so often a guest complained about noise at the property that was associated with the airport traffic. However one guest, for example, indicated that he/she accepted the noise when he/she decided to stay at an airport hotel.
There were some complaints that were concentrated on the location of the property in relation to the airport. Some guests felt as though the hotel was actually far from the airport, at least for a property considered an airport hotel. One guest that seemed to be familiar with the recent history of the area said that due to "airport expansion getting from the hotel to the airport terminal (took) 15-20 minutes instead of the 5 minutes it (took) in the past.”
Another guest who did not want to wait for the airport shuttle took a cab from the terminal to the hotel. His warning was as follows: “Most important to note...this hotel is not exactly at the airport. We paid almost $30 with tip for the taxi" between the airport and hotel.
