Older Brooks hotel with well-liked restaurant and free hot breakfast but mixed reviews

This hotel is situated among local businesses and restaurants on a major thoroughfare in Brooks and the Trans-Canada Highway is only about a 1-minute drive away. As such, this property is well located for guests looking to explore the area.more
Both smoking and non-smoking accommodations are available. All rooms include free Wi-Fi, free local calls and a coffeemaker. A mini-fridge, a microwave, an iron and ironing board and a hair dryer are available upon request. Rooms have individual climate control. Some rooms also include a work desk and ergonomic chair. Rooms are furnished with one or two queen beds.
Suites provide more spacious accommodations. They are furnished with one queen bed and feature separate living room and bedroom areas. Select suites also include a jetted tub or a kitchenette.
Free parking is available on site and pets under 50 lbs are permitted for an additional fee of $20 per pet, per night (to a maximum of $100 per stay).
The on-site Seasons Cafe and Eatery serves a free hot breakfast, lunch and dinner and has special promotions and food geared towards kids. Both the on-site Heritage Lounge and Spin Nightclub serve alcoholic beverages. The on-site lounge also includes TVs and video lottery terminals (VLTs). Room service is available. Both the lounge and nightclub host special events and promotions.

The Centre Shopping Mall and a grocery store are both about 2 minutes away by car, while the town centre area, which features restaurants and boutique shops, is a 3-minute drive or 22-minute walk away. The Brooks and District Museum and the Brooks industrial area are both a 5-minute drive away. The Brooks Golf Club is 5 minutes away by car.

The reviews read for this report were of a highly mixed nature and leaning more on the negative side.
However, a few guests mentioned enjoying the food and service at the on-site restaurant.
A few guests reported clean and comfortable beds at the hotel and also mentioned that the updated rooms are much more acceptable than the ones that are not renovated.

Several guests complained that their rooms were not fully serviced upon entry, with poor vacuuming and dusty appliances and dirty bathrooms.
The plumbing in guests bathrooms was not working properly. They reported clogged drains, stained flooring, a shower that was corroded and would not pour, and a bathroom door that locked the guest in.
While some guests complimented the staff, several other reviewers found some of the front desk agents generally disinterested, absent from the desk, not well trained, rude and unhelpful.
Some guests were subjected to hearing too much of their neighbours activities and loud banging sounds from pipes, noisy ice machine,
Foul odours was another theme, with one guest calling it pig manure to others stating stale smoke smells.
Maintenance issues were common with many things reported as broken and not working.
Although the restaurant seemed like a positive aspect of this hotel, some guests also complained about the service at breakfast and the lounge. One guest was given free breakfast for only 2 of the 4 people in the room. Another said it only included 6 items from the buffet; when they tried to order a full breakfast they were told only if the kitchen was not too busy. Another guest said the bar food was mediocre at best.
