The Good
Guests really liked this hotel and found it a comfortable, friendly and reasonably-priced place to stay.

Guests loved the location. It was close walking distance to town restaurants and shops but out of the noisy zone.

Rooms were comfortable and had been renovated. Although still somewhat dated, rooms were well maintained and clean with comfortable beds, quality bedding and pleasing free toiletries.

The staff were great. They were described very willing to help, efficient, knowledgeable about hiking areas and town, and very friendly.

Guests enjoyed dining on site. El Toro produced very good breakfast and delicious meals with generous portions and reasonable prices.

Wi-Fi was rated as very good by online reviewers and guests also commented on its excellent performance.

Adding value were: the very clean hot tub, a good laundry facility, free underground parking and very good free Wi-Fi.

The Bad
Negative comments focused on noise and parking.

Parking can be limited and tight for larger vehicles. The underground parkade was only suitable for smaller vehicles with a low clearance, requiring those driving bigger vehicles like SUVs and trucks to park in a small lot outside which had limited parking spots.

Noise could prove a disturbance. Guests mentioned some street noise from rooms that faced Banff Avenue (which appeared minimal based on other reviews), loud guests and dogs at times in the hallways and nearby rooms (which the hotel tries to control with quiet rules) and some said they could hear trains (which can be heard echoing in the valley all throughout town).
