The hotel was well liked overall by guests who were looking for a cheap place to stay while in Banff.
Guests found the rooms to suffice. Although very dated with old TVs and no air conditioning, they were clean and spacious with comfortable beds and nice big windows that opened.
The location was well liked. It was an easy walk to the entertainment, restaurants and shops of downtown Banff.
The amenities of Banff Park Lodge, across the street were appreciated. This increased the value for many guests.
The staff were well liked. They were described as pleasant to deal with, knowledgeable and professional. They also catered well to guests with dogs.
The price was right. Guests were typically pleased with rates well below $100 a night. As one guest put it, "It makes skiing affordable."
Guests who were less approving or impressed with the value, offered negative feedback of the hotel's service and facilities.more
The hotel rooms had several weaknesses. Recent complaints included: thin mattresses, threadbare bed covers, very dirty/stained carpets, a lack of air circulation, old TVs, broken screen, loose tiles and no elevators.
Some registered noise complaints which they said came from: traffic and people on the street, loud footsteps from overhead rooms, banging doors and train whistles every few hours throughout the night.
