Staff were the highlight for some guests. They were described as very friendly, informative, and helpful. Guests described their cheerfulness at breakfast each morning and their ablilty to give helpful sight-seeing ideas.
Many guests thought the hotel was ideally situated at the edge of the main shopping and restaurant district, which made it an easy walk to downtown but far enough from the noise and bustle of the busy area.
The outdoor courtyard, with hot tubs and a gas fireplace, was well liked by the guests who enjoyed it in every season. This contributed to the upscale atmosphere of the hotel along with the modern decor of the recently renovated rooms. (The hotel was renovated in 2011.)
The rooms were reported as comfortable, clean, and spacious. Guests enjoyed the amenities and layout of the rooms. Some guests were pleased that the hotel provided twin beds in a family suite, which accommodated each child in his own bed, and also utilized the bathroom as a natural room divider between parents and their children. Some were also pleased that the bathrooms had mirrors and sinks in a separate room from the shower, which allowed more than one guest to use the facilities at a time.
The free breakfast buffet was greatly enjoyed by many reviewers for its quality and selection. Guests also liked the cafe on site for its excellent coffee and teas.
Many guests planned to return, recommended the hotel and considered it to be good value.
While many guest reviewers were pleased with their stay here, the hotel did have some weak spots noted by a few reviewers.more
Noise from outside the hotel was a problem for a few guests who cited nearby construction, train whistles as well as pedestrian and car traffic from the main street of Banff Avenue, which some rooms face. (Backside rooms were quieter.)
A few guests mentioned that the lack of air conditioning made it difficult to sleep on hot summer nights, and fans proved to be too noisy for some patrons. Some tried opening balcony doors for air circulation only to find that the street noise was a hindrance to their sleep as well.
Other recent criticisms were: parking spaces were tight, breakfast room was small, hot tubs closed early at 10 pm and could have been hotter and Wi-Fi kept dropping out.
