Yellowknife has a good selection of hotels which are near to the airport as well as near to, or right in the downtown area. I had trouble deciding which hotels to highlight as my suggested "picks". The reason for this is that the traveller's pictures did not quite match the ratings. Guest ratings always hold a heavy weight in the balance of judgment for a hotel, but what if the pictures given by guests show a lower-rated hotel to actually look better? I decided to stick with ratings so that the majority of guests would speak for the hotel over a picture or two. The other point of confusion here is that beside the fact that all the hotels are expensive here, some pretty mediocre-looking places were really expensive! I asked myself "Why?", but I never got a response.
