Hotels near Winnipeg James Armstrong Richardson International Airport (YWG) tend to have similar pricing when compared to hotels in downtown Winnipeg. This may come as a surprise to some that are used to finding hotels near the airport of a major city a bit cheaper than the downtown core, say as one would find when visiting Toronto. The difference with Winnipeg is that the airport is really not all that far away from downtown, less than 10 km away.

Personally, if I'm staying in Winnipeg I'd probably choose a hotel downtown so I can take advantage of being near the historic architecture in the Exchange District and the famous Old Market Square, home to numerous festivals and exhibitions. Or, I could peruse the city on foot along the reported 274 km of trails within the city.

However, if a hotel closer to the airport is needed, I might shoot for something that gets me in and out of the airport for free. Access to the airport is pretty easy - Wellington Avenue brings you right up to the terminal building - however if you're an out of towner without a car like I am, you can save some money on cab fare and book a hotel with a free shuttle.
