Whitehorse has some good amenities to offer in the way of hotels. The airport is only a 5- to 10-minute drive from downtown, plus most of the hotels offer a free shuttle service. In fact, the shuttle is likely to be waiting at the airport anticipating your arrival! There are no free breakfasts for travellers here, but most of the hotels have a restaurant on site, which adds to a traveller's overall convenience. The hotels seem to be competitively priced, with friendly staff, so I chose the hotels that had the highest customer approval rate, based upon online reviews.

Whitehorse airport, otherwise known as Erik Nielson Whitehorse International Airport (YXY), is located adjacent to the city of Whitehorse, which is an approximate 10-minute drive from the airport. The hotels closest to the airport are all located in Whitehorse.
There is one restaurant at the airport, Shanthi's Airport Restaurant, open daily from 5:30 am to 4:30 pm.
For those seeking more variety, but who also need to be close to the airport, there is a restaurant and lounge at the Airport Chalet, which is a 10-minute walk or under a 5-minute drive from the airport.
Getting Around: Driving
The airport offers three car rental service providers, which include Norcan, National and Budget. There are several local cab companies available.
Although there are other means of transportation to get to your hotel from the airport, access to a vehicle, or a cab fare budget, would be recommended if you plan on doing any sightseeing throughout Whitehorse and the surrounding towns in Yukon, as most attractions are quite spread out.
Travellers may also want to note that several of the hotels listed below do offer a complimentary airport shuttle service, some of which need to be pre-booked, and some of which do not.
Getting Around: Public Transit
The airport is serviced by bus on the route called Route 3 - McIntyre-Hillcrest.
Buses run Monday to Friday, every hour from 7:22 am to 7:22 pm. There are additional pick-ups on Friday night at 8:22 pm and 9:22 pm.
On Saturday, buses run every hour from 8:22 am to 7:22 pm. There is no service on Sunday.
The one-way cash fare for all ages is $2.50 for this route. Guests planning to make heavy use of the public transit system, or who are travelling in groups of two or more, may want to consider purchasing 10-ticket strips, which cost $23 (for a $2 overall savings). For youth 18 and under, 10-ticket strips are only $15 (for $10 in savings), and for seniors 60 and over, they are $10 (for $15 in savings).
There is a public parking lot, which includes accessible parking, at the airport. The first hour of parking is free and the rate is quite modest, at $1.50 per day after the first hour.
The airport does advise that the lot is not supervised and that passengers leave their vehicles at their own risk. They also note that vehicles parked illegally or in a "no parking" zone will be ticketed.
