Tips For Staying Near University of Windsor

Location
Directly adjacent to the Ambassador Bridge, which is the border from Windsor to Detroit, U.S.A., the University of Windsor is centrally located on the banks of the Detroit River in the town of Windsor. 

The campus is quite spread out and features a number of buildings, including nine faculties of study, and is surrounded by residential neighbourhoods. The school plans to expand into downtown Windsor in 2014 with a number of schools of study moving into historic buildings.

Getting Around
Since the campus itself is split up in buildings by area of study, an online virtual tour is available, as well as a number of resources to further explore the campus before your visit.

Daily campus tours are led by student ambassadors at 1 pm Monday through Friday, except holidays. If you book two weeks in advance, prospective students can speak with their respective academic program leader. 

An interactive campus map is also available on the school's website to help prospective visitors navigate the area.

Visitors may want to note that none of the hotels featured below are within an easy walking distance of the campus. The closest hotels are at least a 25-minute walk from a campus entry point.

A number of parking lots are available on campus, with separate lots and fees for visitors, students and faculty. Parking is free for the first 15 minutes, but a deposit of $8 (the daily maximum) is required upon entry.  For up to 2 hours, the fee is $4 and $6 for up to 3 hours.

Transit Windsor operates five bus routes to the campus from around the city from approximately 5 am to 2 am. Routes travelling to the school are Transway 1C, Transway 1C Express, Crosstown 2, Central 3 and South Windsor 7.
