Tips For Staying Near University Of Regina

On the southern shore of the Wascana Lake, the University of Regina is centrally located south of the downtown core. With a focus on experiential learning, the school has a guaranteed placement for students enrolled in one of its many internship programs across a wide range of areas of study, as well as French Studies at the Institut Français

A smaller facility, the College Avenue Campus, is located a 7-minute drive north of the main university campus, closer to downtown Regina.
Getting Around
The campus itself is spread out on a leafy and secluded area of land, so navigating through the number of buildings can take some getting used to. Most of the buildings are circled around the Dr. Lloyd Barber Academic Green. An easy-to-read map is available on their website for guests to orient themselves.

Walking tours can be organized for prospective students, let by student ambassadors, by registering on their website.

However, none of the hotels featured below are within an easy walking distance of campus. The closest hotel is about a 25-minute walk from the nearest entrance to campus. Guests without access to a personal vehicle may opt for public transit or a taxi instead.
Getting Around: Driving
Downtown Regina is an 11-minute drive north of the school, and the Trans-Canada Highway on-ramps are a mere 2-minute drive from the Research Drive campus exit.

The closest airport, Regina International Aiport (YQR), is a 12-minute drive from the school.

All of the hotels featured below are within a 10-minute drive of the University of Regina.
Parking fees vary for visitors, faculty, commuting students and residence students. Visitor rates vary by the lot, and fees start at $0.75 for the first half-hour to $12 per day. For information on rates and pass availability, visit their website. A parking map is also available so guests can understand where to park.
Getting Around: Public Transit
Public transit is available to the campus, serviced by Regina Transit.  A single-ride adult fare is $3, and an unlimited-ride day pass can be purchased for $9. On Saturdays and Sundays, these passes are valid for two adults and up to three children under 18 (or 1 adult and 4 children).
The Dr. William Ridell Centre is a full-service cafeteria and coffee shop. Also nearby is the Lazy Owl Pub and restaurant. The Terrace Cafe is another dining option, and there are a number of coffee shops and take-out restaurants throughout the campus. Each college building has its own dining hall as well.

For a fine-dining, membership-only atmosphere, the University Club and Lounge is available to staff, alumni and fourth year or higher undergrads once membership has been approved.
A number of recitals and performances are available at the University Theatre or the Shumiatcher Open Stage (aka The Shu-Box), such as the oft-run Noon Hour Student Recital. For a full event schedule, visit their website.

Also on site is the Fifth Parallel Gallery, run year-round by students and featuring work done by undergraduate and graduate students of the university.
