Tips For Staying Near Tsawwassen Ferry Terminal

Location
Named for its location just offshore from the Tsawwassen First Nation Reserve, the ferry terminal is itself a man-made island with five ferry bays connecting to Victoria Island (arrives in Swartz-Bay in 1 hour, 30 minutes), as well as the Southern Gulf Islands and Nanaimo.

The terminal is owned and operated by BC Ferries. The causeway connecting the docks to the mainland takes an approximate 2 minutes to drive across.

Fares between Vancouver's mainland and the island are $15.50 per adult, and vehicles are $51.25. More fare information or to make advanced reservations (which is recommended to guarantee space) can be found online.

Getting Around
The Vancouver Blaine Highway, and the town of Delta, is an approximate 12-minute drive from the ferry docks while Surrey is a 34-minute drive, Richmond is a 24-minute drive and the Trans-Canada Highway is a 30-minute drive away. Downtown Vancouver is an approximate 40-minute drive from the ferry docks.

The Vancouver International Airport (YVR) is a 28-minute drive away.

Ferries between the mainland and Vancouver Island operate daily and schedules and maps can be found on their website.

TransLink bus route #620 serves the ferry docks, coming from Bridgeport Station, just north of Richmond, on a daily schedule from approximately 6 am to 11 pm. Guests riding the #620 from its origin at Bridgeport Station to the ferry docks will cross a zone boundary (from Zone 2 to Zone 3) and are expected to pay a two-zone fare, which is $4 per single adult. Single-ride fares in one zone are $2.75. More information on the route and schedules can be found on the TransLink website.

Guests may want to note that public transit between the ferry terminal and the hotels featured here, which are among the closest to the terminal, is generally available but not ideal, often featuring long walk times, transfers and long total trip times. Driving or taking a taxi may be more desirable.

Pacific Coast Lines operates a service from downtown Vancouver to downtown Victoria via the Tsawwassen Ferry. A one-way ticket for the entire trip is $38 (not including the ferry fare of $15.50), but guests can choose to board the bus from the ferry as well. More information on the cross-water service is available on the PCL website.
