The smoke-free Super 8 is well located, only about 1.9 km to the hospital. If you are coming by car, it's recommended to leave it in the parkade (for a $10 fee per night) and either walk (15 minutes), take a cab for about $6 or take public transit to the hospital, as parking rates at the hospital are very expensive.

Super 8 offered a hospital rate on the day we asked. It has clean, spacious rooms with comfortable beds, that are also equipped with microwaves and mini-fridges. It's close to public transit (about a 3-minute walk) and many shops and eateries on Dundas, Queen and Spadina. Wi-Fi and a continental breakfast are included in the room rate. 

This hotel is connected to a shopping mall in Chinatown and utilizes the mall's parkade. If you pay for parking at the hotel's front desk you will obtain the subsidized rate of $10 per day; if you pay at the parkade exit you will pay the mall's price of $19 per day. If you want in-and-out privileges, you will have to pay the mall's rate of $19. 

This hotel is a 6-minute drive, 11-minute ride on public transit or 15-minute walk to the hospital.

The smoke-free Holiday Inn Bloor is located near the upscale area of Yorkville. It offered a hospital rate on the day we checked and parking would be extra. Wi-Fi is free. It has an on-site pub-style restaurant that guests say has good food. Guests have enjoyed the staff, beds and the location for being near to restaurants and transit.

It's only a 7-minute drive to the hospital and 17 minutes away by public transit. Walking will take 27 minutes.

Parking
There are two main parking lots at the hospital. The first is in front of the Nassau entrance at the corner of Bathurst Street and Nassau Street and the second is in front of the Fell Pavillion or Dundas entrance at the corner of Bathurst and Dundas.

The current (2016) weekday parking rates are $4.50 per half an hour or $9 per hour up to a 3-hour limit. After the 3-hour limit, the rate is the daily maximum rate of $25. Weekend parking is a daily flat rate of $6. For updates to parking rates call the hospital's parking office at 416-214-1339.

Getting Around
Many of the hotels closest to the hospital are between a 6- to 12-minute drive or taxi ride away but this largely depends on the traffic as Toronto can get very congested downtown.

Getting Around: Public Transit
The 310 bus route and 511 light rail (street car) route run along Bathurst Street with two stops in front of the hospital. There is also a light rail stop at the corner of Bathurst and Dundas for route 505 which is a 4-minute walk from the hospital. Many of the hotels can be accessed from the hospital by bus or light rail within 11 to 30 minutes. 

The closest subway station is St. Patrick Station, which can be accessed by the 505 street car within 10 minutes. It is also an option to take the 511 bus north to the Bathurst Subway Station to access the Bloor subway line.

The one-way cash fare for all TTC public transit is $3.25. Full fare information and route schedules can be found on the Toronto Transit Commission (TTC) website.
