Guests liked this clean accommodation on a quiet street for value and for its location close to downtown. Rooms are well equipped with microwaves and mini-fridges. Breakfast is not provided and parking is extra here, but only $10 per day the last time we checked. Wi-Fi is free. There is limited front desk hours, but the staff seem to be very efficient and accommodating according to guest reviews. The rooms can be a little snug, but guests who've stayed recently seem to say they will be returning. This guest house is about 15 minutes by car to the hospital.

This old-style mansion is located about a 12-minute drive away from the hospital and offers an excellent free, full hot breakfast, free Wi-Fi and free parking. It's close to downtown (6 minutes by car) and the light rail stop (3 minutes on foot). Guests have enjoyed the hosts, the breakfasts, the garden setting, the clean rooms and comfortable beds. There's a Loblaws and convenience stores close by. There is a cat and dog on the premises which could make it unsuitable for some folks (according to an online reviewer).

The Clarion Hotel & Suites is an older, historical property that might work for you if you are able to obtain a recently renovated room. (I've heard that the 4th floor is renovated.) This hotel has smoking rooms and that may be a concern for some. The rates include breakfast and Wi-Fi, but parking is an extra $17 per day when we last checked. Guests say it offers good value and affordable accommodation with courteous staff. The hospital is only 10 minutes away by car and also reachable by public transit in about 17 minutes.

The Toronto Transit Commission services the hospital area and many other neighbourhoods in the city of Toronto. The standard adult fare is $3 for a one-way ride. Visitors may want to note that the closest transit stop to the hospital is Coxwell Station, which is about a 7- or 8-minute walk south, or a 4-minute bus ride away.

Toronto is a bike-friendly city, and one can take advantage of numerous bike lanes on city roads as well as bike paths through parks. Even on roads without bike lanes, there are often many people out on bikes, enhancing visibility and safety.

Cafe on four, located on the 4th floor H-wing, serves food to staff, volunteers and guests between the hours of 7 am and 2:30 pm. The cafe has a salad bar, as well as prepared sandwiches, soups, breakfast foods and desserts.

Toronto East General Hospital (TEGH) is a community teaching hospital that has a designated Paediatrics Centre, including an Emergency Paediatric Centre that has been affiliated with The Hospital For Sick Children since 2004. This hospital hosts the MotHERS Program for new and expecting mothers. The hospital also has general hospital services and emergency services.
