I've heard that Calgary is a great city for getting around by car due to it's trails that wind their way through the city kind of like a plate of spaghetti. It seems that travelling by public transit is another story though as it takes so long to get somewhere by bus.

We've highlighted the closest hotels to the Calgary hospital known as Rockyview General Hospital and listed driving times as well as public transit times to the hospital from each hotel. My recommendation is to drive or be driven to and from the hospital to save yourself a lot of stress.

I've tried to locate the best places to stay based upon best value. In order to make my decision, I analyzed and compared the hotels listed below for price, amenities offered, freebies and medical rate offered, and the all-important guest reviews online which give us inside knowledge on how the hotel performs in terms of service, cleanliness and irritations such as noise and lack of upkeep etc.

The Sandman is my pick for best value near Rockyview. Wi-Fi and parking are free and it had one of the lowest room rates on the day I compared all the hotels. It also has the highest recommendation rate of the 10 hotels that are closest to the hospital. It may provide a hospital rate to those who call and ask, as they stated that they were willing to negotiate a rate.

In terms of facilities they have food readily available on site through a variety of restaurants (Denny's, Moxies and Shark Club) which adds considerable convenience. The staff of this hotel are well liked for being courteous and friendly and having gone out of their way to help.

Guests say the hotel feels new and clean and is quiet and comfortable. There have been complaints about small rooms where the beds take up the entire space and I must say that some of the pictures reveal this, but I also realize that this is not the case for every room. You may have to specify your needs when booking. Also microwaves and mini-fridges are not standard amenities in all rooms.
