Quebec City's Jean Lesage International Airport is only 20 minutes from the downtown core by car. This opens up quite a few options when looking for suitable hotels that are also near to the airport. Of course staying in the downtown offers guests more dining, shopping and area attractions as well. I picked hotels based upon overall value and nearness to the airport out of the 10 closest to the airport.

Guests at this hotel are happily shuttled to both Old Quebec and the airport for free, each an 11-minute ride away.

Many guests enjoyed the rooms at this well-reviewed hotel with modern amenities, steam showers and high-quality linens. Dining on site was another highlight for some guests, who left mouth-watering pictures on line. Guests also provided highly positive guest reviews of the on-site spa services and excellent and well-priced massages provided on site.

Although parking is an extra $15 per night, guests staying more than 3 days found some relief from the surcharge by receiving a daily, $20 gift voucher for “going green” and giving up daily housekeeping and just receiving fresh towels. Other amenities on site include a business centre, well-equipped fitness centre and a sauna. Outdoors there is a swimming pool and sun deck in a gorgeous setting of trees and rock gardens, a peaceful pond and walking paths.

Tips For Staying Near Quebec City Airport

Location
The Quebec City Jean Lesage International Airport (YQB) is the primary air passenger hub serving Quebec City and the surrounding area. It is located about 15km-20km driving distance west of Quebec City (or about a 20-25 minute drive).

The immediate landscape surrounding the airport is a combination of suburban and semi-rural areas. As a result, and as is fairly standard with large airport hubs, the surrounding area isn't very accessible on foot and doesn't offer much in the way of entertainment.

Taxi
For those arriving to Quebec City via the airport, the best way to get from the airport to the downtown area (or vice versa) is probably taxi. Taxi fares in either direction, to or from the Quebec City airport and downtown Quebec City, are a flat rate $34.25. For those those traveling into the areas immediately surrounding the area, for example to access local hotel or dining options, the flat rate is $15.00. For all other destinations, taxi fares are metered.

Car Rental
There are a number of car rental agencies at the airport: Avis, Budget, Enterprise, Hertz and National/Alamo. These are located on the main floor of the administrative building.

Getting Around: Public Transit
The Réseau de transport de la Capitale (RTC) bus #78 runs to the airport.  One-way fare is $3 while a day pass goes for $7.25. It runs every half hour. However, if you're looking to get downtown from the airport, skip the bus and opt for taxi. It's more expensive, yes, but in this case, it's probably money well spent.

Parking
Parking at the airport goes for $4 (taxes included) every half hour. A full day would cost $15 and one week would be $105.

Dining
There are only two on-site (a Tim Hortons and Restaurant Altitude). The closest restaurants in the area are about 5 km away from the airport, which would be less than a five minute drive. Some of the options include a '50s diner called Flash Cafe and La Tanière, which offers a gourmet menu.
