I looked for hotels that would provide the best value for those attending Mount Sinai Hospital for their own health care, or for friends and family that are accompanying loved ones needing attention at the hospital. The first 2 hotels below provide compassionate discounts for those who can provide proof of their appointment at this downtown Toronto hospital. Contact must be made with the hotel directly in order to obtain the discount.

Be sure to compare online rates against discounted rates offered by the hotel on the days you want to book as you may be surprised to discover that the online rate is cheaper for the days and hotel of your choice, although the cheaper rate may not be cancellable.

As in most downtown city hotels, parking is extra and can run up a large bill if you are staying for a while, so this is something to take into consideration when choosing a hotel, especially in downtown Toronto.

The Chelsea Hotel Toronto is the closest hotel on our list to the Mt. Sinai Hospital and can be reached on foot in 7 minutes. Walking is a much-used method of transportation in downtown Toronto, along with public transit and taxis, and visitors to Toronto will find many shops and eateries along the way on most downtown streets. Although parking is extra here, they do offer on-site supervised child care services for potty-trained children on the 2nd floor that is reasonably priced and Wi-Fi is free. They also have a family pool plus an adults only swimming pool (the family one has a waterslide), plus a fitness centre and a few on-site restaurants which can help with your stay. Although this hotel is now smoke-free, you should avoid the older, unrenovated rooms as it has been reported online that these can smell like stale smoke when they were previously smoking rooms. Approximately half of the hotel's 1590 rooms have been renovated.

Super 8, located in downtown Toronto's Chinatown district, is a 2-star accommodation that has a lot going for it. Although it's a 17-minute walk to the Mt. Sinai Hospital from here, the money you save on the room will free up some cash for a 6-minute cab ride. It's only about a 3-minute walk to the Dundas streetcar for a public transit ride to the hospital as well. It is one of the only hotels in the downtown that provides free breakfast and Wi-Fi. They also subsidize parking for their guests by about half if you pay for it at the front desk, rather than at the parkade exit. They have large, clean and well-equipped rooms with comfortable beds. All rooms come with microwaves and mini-fridges and flat screen TVs. There is also an on-site laundromat for guest use.

Getting Around
The hospital is situated between Queen's Park TTC Subway Station and the College Street streetcars (a 3-minute walk away) and St. Patrick TTC Subway Station and the Dundas Street streetcars (a 5-minute walk away). Check out the TTC's website for information about rates, schedules and more.

Most of the hotels listed below are within a 15-minute walk, which is considered safe during the day due to the large amount of foot traffic in the city's downtown core; however, caution is recommended at night.

Toronto Pearson Airport (YYZ) is an approximate 30-minute drive away, while the Billy Bishop Island Airport (YTZ) is an approximate 10-minute drive away, not including the 1-minute ferry ride to the terminal.
