Castlegar is a small city  with a population of about 7,000 in the West Kootenay region of British Columbia. It's a beautiful place that is nestled within the Selkirk mountains and located at the confluence of the Kootenay and Columbia rivers. This regional airport services mostly private planes, but Air Canada flies in from Vancouver and Calgary daily, and only during the daylight hours due to the fact that the airport runway is closely surrounded by mountains.
