Four Points is very highly rated and good value if staying near to African Lion Safari. It's a newer hotel, built in 2009, and guests liked the location for being close to the 401 Hwy, shops and restaurants. It's about a 22-minute drive to African Lion Safari from this hotel.

Guests also reported that the rooms were bright, modern, tastefully decorated and very clean. They were also pleased to find comfortable beds and extra room amenities such as microwave and mini-fridge in their spacious rooms. There's no restaurant on site, but I hear there are some decent options within a 5-minute walk (including a Tim Hortons). Other hotel amenities include an indoor and outdoor pool, a basketball court and gym. It's about an 18-minute drive to the park from this hotel.

Tips For Staying Near African Lion Safari

Location
The African Lion Safari is located at 1386 Cooper road in Hamilton.

It is a 740-acre wild game reserve which is home to over 1,000 different species of mammals and birds from around the world. Guests can choose to drive their own car through the park, viewing a number of animals along the way, or to take a ride in an on-site safari bus. 

Admission rates from May to September are $34.95 for adults (ages 13-59) and $25.95 for children (3-12). Kids under two receive free admission and seniors (60+) pay $32.95. All rates are reduced by $4 after the first week in September to closing.

The park is seasonal and is only open from mid-May through mid-October.

Entertainment
Lions, cheetahs and giraffes (OH MY!) are just a few of the animals you can see at the park. The large conservation area is home to zebras, rhinos, antelopes, elephants, deer, monkeys, kangaroos, swans, vultures and many more.

In the game reserves, you can drive your vehicle on a self-guided safari past the elephant swim area, through the Nairobi Sanctuary, the Duma Cheetah Preserve, Wankie Bushland Trail, Rocky Ridge, Eurasia and the Americas. There is also a pedestrian section with a number of different presentation areas. There are parrot paradise and birds of prey demonstration areas as well as an elephant round-up. Animal showtimes can be found on their website. The zoo park contributes to the conservation and breeding of endangered animals and more information on their efforts can be found on their website.

Guests can also ride the scenic railway or African Queen boat cruise, visit the informational discovery centre, 'monkey around' in the jungle playground or visit the petting centre where they can feed goats.

There is also a water park for children including waterslides and a number of water features. Height restrictions may apply and bathing suits are required.

Getting Around: Driving
Admission to the park allows you to drive your vehicle through the many different sanctuaries and preservation locations. However, there may be a risk of damage due to monkeys climbing, and a number of other animals curiously coming at your car. The park takes no responsibility for this damage, and a waiver will be signed upon admission purchase. Windows must be kept up at all times and any loose items attached to the outside of your car removed. For more policies and information, visit their website.
