Tips For Staying In Toronto Harbourfront

Located on the northern shores of Lake Ontario, Toronto's Harbourfront District is the perfect location for travellers who prefer a hotel along Toronto's waterfront, that's still only minutes away from the hustle and bustle of Toronto's downtown core. This district is bordered by Toronto's Entertainment District in the north, and looks across Toronto's Inner Harbour to the Toronto Islands in the south, providing that perfect balance between nature and civilization.

Something For Everyone...
Whether travelling for business or leisure, the Harbourfront area has it covered when it comes to hotel accommodations. Business travellers or visitors looking for a full-service hotel experience can choose from the Westin Harbour Castle or the Radisson Admiral Toronto Harbourfront, both of which offer on-site dining, swimming pools, a 24-hour gym and conference facilities.

The Westin Harbour Castle also offers a European day spa and wellness centre and a fine-dining experience overlooking the water. Guests can also enjoy Harbour Square Park, which is adjacent to the hotel, and find some peaceful moments, taking in the quiet beauty of the lake. The Jack Layton Ferry Terminal is a minute or two away on foot for guests who want to explore the bike trails, beaches and beauty of the Toronto Islands.

Summertime travellers who enjoy trying something different will love Making Waves Boatel, a floating Bed and Breakfast open from May 1 to September 30, and one of our Editor's Picks!

Entertainment Galore...

Anyone who's been to Toronto knows there's plenty to see and do. Several popular attractions are located in Toronto's Entertainment District, just a short distance north of the Harbourfront hotels, including the new Ripley's Aquarium, the Rogers Centre (home of the Toronto Blue Jays, formerly called the SkyDome) and the skyline-defining CN Tower (all within a 5-minute drive). The Harbourfront Centre, which plays host to many music, culture and food festivals, is within a 10-minute walk of all Harbourfront hotels.

Shopping anyone?...

The Harbourfront Centre has lots of interesting shops to browse indoors, plus an ice-cream vendor and various cafes and restaurants with beautiful lake views. It's Lake View Market also offers outdoor shopping from numerous vendors during the summer months. Guests can enjoy an ice cream or Starbucks while sitting on the boardwalk along Waterfront Trail and watch the boats go by.

For serious shoppers, the Toronto Eaton Centre, situated at the core of downtown Toronto, is about a 20- to 30-minute walk from the harbourfront hotels, or a 5- to 10-minute cab ride.

Easily Accessible...
The Harbourfront District offers several modes of transportation for the Toronto traveller. Billy Bishop Airport (YTZ), on the Toronto Islands is reachable by a short ferry ride, which is accessed on the mainland, while Toronto Pearson International Airport (YYZ) is about a 40-minute drive from all Harbourfront hotels.

Road travellers will appreciate the close proximity of the Gardiner Expressway to the harbourfront and Toronto's Union Station provides underground subway service as well as a VIA Rail Train terminal, within a 15-minute walk of the Harbourfront hotels.
