Sainte-Foy has a good selection of highly-rated hotels but most are rather expensive in my opinion. The rest of the hotels are not that well liked by guests, and some are poorly rated. My picks are well liked by their guests, with good amenities and excellent staff. My picks are also hotels that I consider to offer good value, by virtue of their attractive price and all that they offer for that price.

Tips For Staying In Sainte-Foy

Sainte-Foy is a large borough west of downtown Quebec City that encompasses the Jean Lesage Quebec City Airport (YQB), Laval University and the two bridges connecting Quebec City and Levis.

Sainte-Foy Bridge Hotels
Many of the area hotels are clustered around Highways 540 and 73, at the base of the Pierre-Laporte and Quebec bridges. Hotels here are well located for drivers looking to explore the area via major highways. Many hotels in this area offer free parking, free Wi-Fi and on-site dining.

Looking for a little luxury and a lot of value? Our Editor's Pick, Hotel Sepia, is only a 2-minute drive from the Saint Lawrence River. Its rooms feature posh extras, including Nespresso coffeemakers, glass rain showers, Egyptian cotton and goose down bedding and designer decor. The hotel also boasts an on-site fine-dining restaurant, a lounge and an outdoor heated pool. Everything but your bill will feel like a high-end luxury hotel!

If Hotel Sepia is booked up, the Best Western Premier Hotel L’Aristocrate is a solid alternative. Its room rates typically come in a little bit higher, but its stunning stone exterior and modern furnishings will not disappoint. Like Hotel Sepia, this Best Western has an on-site restaurant, a cocktail lounge and a heated outdoor pool.

Both of these hotels overlook the Saint Lawrence River and are within a short drive of the bridges to Levis. They also both operate a free shuttle service to Old Quebec City in the summer months. Plus, Wi-Fi and parking are free!

YQB Airport Hotels
Other Sainte-Foy hotels are found grouped along Wilfrid-Hamel Boulevard, south of the airport. Hotels in this area are within a 5-minute drive of a movie theatre, a Walmart store and several restaurants (at the corner of Wilfrid-Hamel Boulevard and Autoroute Duplessis).

Several of the budget-chain hotels near the airport offer free breakfast, free parking and free shuttle service to the airport. However, if you plan to use a hotel airport shuttle service, be sure to check whether the shuttle operates on demand or on a set schedule, and whether or not you need to book it in advance!

For excellent value, consider our Editor's Pick, Super 8 Hotel - Quebec City Ste. Foy. It has some of the lowest rates around, and comes highly recommended for its clean rooms and friendly customer service. It packs a lot of value into those low rates, too -- the hotel offers free parking, free breakfast and an indoor pool with a waterslide. In-room Wi-Fi is also free of charge, and all rooms are equipped with a microwave and mini-fridge.

What to Do in Sainte-Foy
There is ample shopping in this borough of Quebec City. The Place Ste-Foy shopping centre and Laurier Quebec shopping centre, located next to each other west of Laval University, both offer an extensive selection of shops and restaurants.

Located under the bridges, the Parc Aquarium du Quebec is a major attraction in the Quebec City area. Featuring a research lab, a viewing tunnel and an outdoor park, visitors get close to 3,500 fish species as well as mammals such as polar bears and seals. Plus, it's only about a 1-minute drive from Hotel Sepia and the Best Western Premier Hotel L'Aristocrate, as well as the other hotels near the St. Lawrence bridges.

Travelling around Sainte-Foy and Quebec City
The Sainte-Foy and Quebec City area is well served by public transit buses. Route 78 serves the airport, but only runs during the morning and evening. This bus can be accessed from the Michelete Terminal or at any of the stops along Rue Saint Paul, Rue Notre Dame and Rue Saint Jacques.

Buses to downtown, routes 800 and 801, run every 10 minutes from 5 am to midnight. Single-ride tickets are about $3, while day passes are $7.50.

If exploring the area by car, free parking is available at the Sainte-Foy shopping malls and at the Parc Aquarium du Quebec.

There are plenty of reasons to vacation in Sainte-Foy, and no shortage of local sights. But this borough is an ideal base from which to travel to Quebec City and Levis, so take advantage of the prime location and explore!
